Shepherd’s Pie (Aardappelpastei)

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 spring onions
  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 200 g pitted green and black olives
  • 2 eggs
  • Seasonings to taste: cumin, pepper, salt, paprika powder, and oregano
  • Mozzarella (as needed)

👨🍳 Preparation

  1. Peel the potatoes and boil them until soft. Then mash them.
  2. Heat the griddle (plancha) and add a dash of oil. Chop the onions and fry them until golden brown.
  3. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and add it to the onions. Continue frying.
  4. Mix the meat with the onions and add cumin, oregano, and smoked paprika powder to taste.
  5. Remove the mixture from the griddle and set aside. Add chopped boiled eggs, olives, and spring onions.
  6. Spread the mashed potatoes over the griddle, add the meat mixture, then another layer of mashed potatoes, and finish with mozzarella.
  7. Let the mozzarella melt and serve.
