The smashburger technique is simple: you press a ball of ground meat hard onto a glowing hot iron surface. The meat caramelises instantly, the Maillard reaction does the rest — a crispy, golden-brown crust on the outside, juicy on the inside.
For that technique you need three things: a flat iron griddle that holds heat, a sturdy smasher to press the meat down, and a thin spatula to flip it smoothly. All three are included in this set.

Why does the smashburger work so well on iron?
Teflon pans can't handle the heat. Cast iron takes too long to heat up. Hot-rolled iron — like the Planchetta — heats up quickly, holds its temperature perfectly and passes that heat back to the meat evenly. That's the difference between a burger with a crust and one without.
